DISAPPEARANCE

An echo of the sudden disappearance of Superintendent O'Brien, of the Wellington Fire Brigade, was heard in "the Magistrate's Court to-day, when Ins wife applied for separation, maintenance, and guardianship orders. The plaintiff stated that her husband had been receiving £356 per annum as salary. Until recently he allowed her £12 10s monthly to maintain hcrsoif and lior daughter. The last payment due was about a fortnight in arrear. She last heard of him about May 4th. when she received a note from him saying that she must prepare for a shock. She had been t-oTd he was ■seen on the Aorangi prior to the vessel's -departure for San Francisco. it is believed that there in another woman in the case.
Tlie Court made an order for -£2 70s weekly for the support of the plainfnr. and child, and £5 for past maintenance.
