NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION.
i I'mtki) Press Association.]
Wellington, May 14
Tho management committee of the Now Zealand Rugby Union met tonight. An appeal for a contribution towards the fund for the purchase of pictures for the National Art Gallery was referred to the annual meeting. The Wellington Rugby Union wrote asking that as the amount of the loan of £4000 had been half paid off, would the committee consider the question of reducing the rate of interest from 3 per cent to 2-.} per cent, the amount outstanding being £1950. The matter was referred to the incoming committee. The disqualification of twelve months imposed on T. Rapson by tho Wellington Rugby Union was made. A general application by Mr G. R. Watkins for reinstatement was declined. The Poverty bay Association wrote urging the reinstatement of players in that district, as a check of the growth of tho Northern League game. It was well known, said tho Tetter, that football in Hawke's Bay last season was a fiasco owing to the strides made by I the League game. It was reasonable to I assume that a number of smaller unions I had already been approached with peri haps the prospect of an early representative match, and a return game, to induce them. The letter was referred to the annual meeting.
