NEW ZEALAND ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.

A NUMBER OF DECISIONS.

[United Press Association.]

Wellington, May G. The council of the New Zealand Athletic Association met to-night. A letter from the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union stated that one of their ■executive, who happened to be in Westport, wrote about the action of the Westport football club in holding snorts (avowedly amateur), practically two meetings at Cape Foulwind and GranIty Creek. It is a crying shame. It would be a good idea to inquire into the bona fides of the alleged amateur sports meetings held at Westport on Saturday and Monday at Easter time. He knew certain cash men competed, and surely this fact alone would show the A.A.A. that they wore just being used to raise money for people who care nothing at all about sport. Tho Union stated that this letter came from a reliable source.

It was decided to ask the Canterbury centre whether any permit was granted for the meetings, the local centre knowing nothing about it. With regard to the record claimed to have been put up by J. McHohn in throwing tho 161b hammer at Christchurch on February 24th, the chairman reported he had ascertained that there was only one competitor in the event. He ruled that it could not be held as a record. It was explained that had there been only one other entrant the application would have been in order.

It was resolved to uphold the ruling of the chairman in the matter.

An application by A. N. Clark for rein statement was referred' to the New South Wales Amateur Athletic Association.

Two other applications for reinstatement, those of A. M. St George and R. Sprague were referred to tho Auckland Association for information as to whether these athletes had received payment for playing football under, the Northern Union rules.
