London, April .18. In connection with the acquisition by the Royal Steam Packet Company and Elder, Dempster and Company, of the ordinary shares of the* Union Castle Lint? of steamers, th<x former Company has been handed by Donald Currie and Company, a cheque for over £5,000,000. The cheque is said to be the socond largest on-record.
