GLENHOPE TO MURCHISON
DEPUTATION TO HON. MR
COLVIN
MORE MEN TO BE PUT ON
The deputation to the Hen. Mr. -Colvin at Murchison on Thursday urged the Minister to hark up .the-efforts of the late Minister of Public Works and Mr. H. Atmore, M.P., for Nelson, who had pledged himself to do his utmost to assist in pushing on the railway from Glonhopa to Murchison. They _hoped that tho Minister would do all in his power to assist in urging the rapid construction of tho railway to Murchison. Tho Minister expressed his cordial sympathy with their object and promised to do what ho could. He stated that a number of men were- being sent from Dunollio to thf> Glenhone railway works. H<? understood at least 4-0 or 50 had left for tho latter place. The Department intended to put on. 200 men to push on the lino towards Murchison. Ho would do his best to assist tr-,o members for Motuoka and Kelson i;>. expediting the construction of tho railway. They might rest assured that the lino would go on to Murchison whatever route might be chosen. The ':in« was authorised as far as the Owen.
The deputation passed a unanimous vote of thanks to tho Minister by acclamation for receiving the deputation.
