MR MASSEY'S VIEWS.
[United P'hehs Association.]
Stratford, March 31
Messrs Massey and'Hine, member.for the district, with tho visiting members of Parliament, were entertained at a batiqiiet last night at Kohuratahi, oil the route of the Stratford-Tekoura railway, tho party being the first passen - I gers to go through tho Whangamomoiia, tunnel. They received a good reception at the Jiands of the settlers, who were enthusiastic in their expressions of goodwill. Speaking at the banquet, Mr Masse.y, referring to the new Cabinet, said its members were divided on the land! question, three being nominal freeholders, and the remainder leaseholders. On every possible question they wore divided, and a party divided against, itself could not stand. From a party point of view this suited him admirably, but from a patriotic point of view it did not suit him as such Administration was not likely to do any right or proper thing. However, it was not likely to remain in office long;.
Mr Massey left Stratford for Wellington to-day.
