"CHURCH YELL" BY CHOIR BOYS.
An experiment was made recently at tho -Methodist Church a*- Hillside-.. New Jersey. The pastor, the Rev. William, Hurd,..is' the choirmaster as well as the preacher. Just before the sermon,, at a giiren signal, twelve boys rose in the front pow and marched into tha spacious platform pulpit to an harmonious accompaniment of thr. tune of "Onward Christian So'diors." Tlion, standing in a row, they proceeded to give the. "church yell."
"Say, my friends," they shouted, "have you seen second Timothy, two lil'teon ; First Thessalonians, ihe. twenty, two? Tells you exactly what to do."
Before the congregation had quite r:l cn\orpd from tin's evangelical no- \ city the boys whistled in chorus two hymns, "Stand up, stand up for •lesus." and "'Wonderful "Words of Life," Mr Hurd explained that this was part of a now method of getting an increased attendance at church.
