Five hundred .Yorkshire- minors ha\Q gone to tho Littleton eolliories at Cannock Chase, where tho mob prevented tho strike breakers from reassembling at the surface by throwing missiles down the pit upon thorn, despite tho appeal of tho Miners' Federation agont.
The< mob overpowered the police and burnt the buildings tho damage amounting to £3000.
Numerous bat-on charges were made, and the police finally sent urgont messages to tlio military at Lichfield. A detachment of infantry has arrived at Chirk.
Two regiments at Alderehot with ball ammunition and -three days' rations are entraining- for an unknown strike area where disorder is threatened.
Othor troops are confined to barracks
