Lotion, Jan 30. Tho death is recorded of Admiral Sir John Charles Dalrymplo-Hay.

Tho Right Hon Sir John DalrympleHay, third baronet, was born in 1821, and entered tho Xavy in 1831. He served during tho first Kaffir war. He was on tho Mediterranean Station and present at the capture of Beyrout and St Jean d'Acre, and was specially gazetted for gallantry at the attack on Tortosa, 1839-42. Bo wav fiag-lieutenriiit to Sir Thomas C'oehrano in the Borneo operations of 18-15, nnd was promoted to commander. Mo was in command of a squadron which destroyed piratical fleets in Chinese waters in 18-19, and was appointed captain, subsequently commanding various battleships. Ho bocamo a rear-admiral in 18(iG, and retired in 1870 from active service, being promoted to admiral in 1878. He entered politics, and was a Lord of the Admiralty from ISGG to ISGS.
