Christohurch, Jan. 17. At Addington to-day there were moderate yardings- of nearly all classes of stock and a good attendance. Fat cattle showed no change; store sheep ard fat lambs sold well, and fat sheep opened nt last week's rates, but easwl off towards the end of the sale. Figs were in keen demand.

Sheep were again entered in fairly large numbers, wethers forming the larger proportion. All classes of lambs especially those muly fur rape, were in keen denuuid, and prices showed a further advance. The fat ewes offered also sold well. Forward wetheir .sold well up to late rates, but halfbredsj which were more numerous thau other classes, were not saleable, and for these prices were somewhat easier. Eest rape lambs made 12s 6d to 13s 3d, good 12s to 12s Gd, medium 11s to lls 9d, smaller 9 S 9d to 10s Gd, and culls 7s lOd; small two-tooths 15s ('d ; young cull ewes I.os to lls, and full mouth Merino owes, 7s lOd; ewes with lambs 9s 3d to 10? 8d (all counted) ; forward 4 and 6 tooth wethers 15s to 10s; two tooth lls Gd to 12s 3d, small culls 9s Gd to 10s 9d.

There was an entry of 2(580 lambs, and both condition and quality showed a considerable improvement over lr-te yardiugs. There was better competition in consequence of the larger supply, the exporters bidding more freely. There was practically no improvement in the price per pound, the higher range of values per hood being due 1/O the better quality. There wero a few unfinished Jots, and those werr bought by graziers. Best lambs made 14s (3d to 17 S and lighter 12s lOd to 14s.

The yarding of fat sheep was a moderate one in point of numbers, but included soino good lines of wethers and ewes. The supply was rather more than sufficient for the butchers, and prices showed practically no change at the opening of the sale but wethors eased off towards tho close. A few lots of wethers wore bought for export. The range of prices was :— Prime .wethers 17s 6d to 21s, others 12s Gd to 17s; prime ewes log to 18s 6d. extra to 20s, others lls to los; Merino wethers 10s 6d to 14s 6d. .

There wore only 180 head of fat cattle penned, all being local entries. Though tho quality was chiefly medium and- tlie sale dull, prices were firmer. _ Stwrs_ made £7 2s 6d to £13 10s; heifers £5 5s to £9 os; and cows .■Co 10s to £8 2s; equal to 25s to 29s ptv 1001b. Veal calves made 45s 6d to 57s Cd, according to size and quality. A small yarding of store cattle was composed chiefly of old cows. Gqod .stores sold well, 15 to 18 months making 32s Cd to £3 15s; two year steers £4 7s Gd; two year hcifors £3 15s; 3 year steers £G 17s 6d; 3 year heifers £1 ss; dry cows 27s Gd'to £4 15s; and dairy cows sold at £3 10s to £8 17s 6d.

A small yarding of fat pigs sold well under a keen demand. A buyer for Wellington operating freely. Choppers made 55s to 80s; large baconers 60s to 745: nnd smaller 48s to 575, Gd (equal to Gd per lb); l>\rgo porkers 42 S to 50s, Email 35s to JB.s (toquul to Gd per Jb). A small entry «f store pigs sold at advanced rates un-df-r active competition, medium sorts making 18s to 255; weancrs 12s Qd to 17s 6d; and sows in pig 45s to 50s.
