MR KEIR HARDIE AGAIN.
THE GAEKWAR AND THE KING
[Phess Association—Coptbioht.]
(Received Jan 7, 5.6" p.m.) London, Jan 6.
Mr Keir Hardie, M.P., writing to tho newspaper "Welslv Pioneer,'.' says that many of the Gaokwar of Baroda's fellow-rulers have been taught to grovel before the Throne, as becomes all approaching such a symbol of imbecility. The Gackwar, with his American traditions, kept erect- and turned his back ou the King, romombering that a man's eyes are in front, and he ■is not skilled in the art of walking like a crab. It is difficult to see what else he could have done. The historians will depict the Gackwar as the one significant figure at the Durbar, and not the King-Emperor, goinjr through his little part like a well painted automation. Tho Gaekwar calmly did all that was required of him as a gentleman, but always remembering that hi.^ country was in dust he refused to kiss the foot of its oppressor.
