ARRANGEMENTSi FOE WBDNKSPAY AND THURSDAY.

Tie Garnival of Flowers to be held at Trafalgar Park on AVednesday and Thursday next iif aid of the funds of the Nelson Beautifying Society, will no ddub't appeal to tho public, arid given lino weather; the function should prove a huge success; A lengthy programme has boon arranged including competitions for. decorated motor cars, motor cycles, bicycles, gocarts expresses, etc, flower, nation, flag, and poster competition; if baby show, for which a considerable number of entries have already, been received; a decorative quartette competition for which about a dozen parties representing the city/ Waimea and Wakapuaka have entered; a Maypole dance by the Richmond school children; a cake and sweets competition; races; and numorous side shows, including a camera obscura kindly lent by Mr. J. A. Stringer. There will also be competitions for best decorated ponies and for "best decorated any other design." No entry fee will be charged for any of the events, and entries will be taken right up to the opening of the Carnival, but it is requested that those who ilitend making entries will do so at once to save time on Wednesday. Extra special prizes are now being Offered, for babies between six and 12 months. ...

An art union is being held iii connection with the Carnival, and tickets which admit to the Park and also give « chance for valuable prizes, arc procurable at various shops in town and Gountry'i 'Jlit? following judges Inve been ap pointed :—

Motor car, Motor cycie, bicyc'.c, tricycle, perambulators, doll perambulators and dog Carts: Misselames Hoby, A. E. Tnsker and G. Kerf.

Lady's costume representing a flower, flag, nation, trade poster; best dressed cowboy, original costume and decorated ponies: Mcsdames C. R. Fell, B. 11. Moller, and H. Duncan.

Decorated express, go cart, umbrella, sunshade, lady's hat, boy's costume under 14, gills' best costume under 14: Mesdames H. T. Field, li. Baigent, and Fred. Hamilton.

The following entries were received fa rthe best decorated quartette:— Rtnke (chaperon Mrs. Wilmott); Wakefield (chaperon Mrs S Bni.tr^'i-M Brook street (chaperon Mrs. Fred. Hamilton) ; Port ware! (chaperon 31'! .Gordon Richmond) : Toi Toi Valley (chaperon Miss N. Day); Washington Valley (chaperon Mrs. Astle); Maitai (chaperon Mrs. J. P. Hayes); Wno« (chaperon Mrs. P. Topli.ss>: W.ilciI Dimka (chaperon Mrs. G. Wastney); I Waimea road (chaperon Mrs. S. P. Bolton). The attraction on Thursday even- ' inu will be.a masquerade and battle of flowers, the arrangements fo'.r which , are in tho hands of Mr. V. HnddV- | Btono from whom all particulars can |be obtained. Some hundreds are. expected to take part in the battle of flowers, and the public will not be permitted inside the rails at the Park on Thursday evening.
