(From Our Own Correapondent.)

The Brightwater school tea was held on November Bth at the" brick school. Weather and other considerations induced large numbers to attend. At tho evening entertainment Archbishop Baker presided. Various musical items, drill, recitations, etc., were gonat- through, while the juveniles wore delighted at the unexpected arrival of Abu Hassan and his performing elephant and giraffe. By the generosity of a frfend'a handsome prize was given to the most popular item. This was secured with 25 votes by "club drill," performed by Doris Grey. Ivy Harman, Ivy Lessels, Hilda Clay, Irene Palmer, while "Abu" secured 17J votes. The school prizes were allotted .this year by combining regular- • ity marks with those obtained at the Inspector's examination, and by gooa conduct:

Standard VI: Fred Williams Dux of school 1, Kathleen Parker 2, Hilda Clay 3, Hilary Grace 4, Red Smoll 5. Standard V: Ivy Harman 1, Alice Williams 2, Walter Forster 3.

Standard IV: Dorothy Rutherford 1, David Bryant 2, Irene Palmer 3, Gertie Palmer 4. ■

Standard III: River Terrace: Adeline Smith 1, Len Kerr 2, Herbert Williams 3; Brightwater Gladys Greig 1, Reg Ingham "2, Ena Freeman 3.

Standard II: River Terrace, Coral Ellis; Brightwater, Lily Forster, Robert Bryant 2, Douglas Clay. Standard I: Veda Hill 1, Annie Nutall 2; Nature study, Roy McNeil!; attendance, Hector Ingham. For the first time perhaps in 30 years the well known face of Mr Frank Neal was missed at this annual fixture. Though he has been failing for a long timo, yet he has been about till a few days ago. He passed away on Show day and was laid'to rest in St Paul's Churchyard' on Friday last. It is but three months since his eldest son died. Mrs Neal and family have the deepest sympathy of all in their doxiblo sorrow.
