THE BEST DAIRY COW.
On the dairy cow question the following qualification of Professor F. E. Woodward, of Utah, U.S.A., is com-, prehensive, fair and just (states n farming exchange). "Ranked with reference to the amount of milk produced, the breeds stand as follows:—Ayrshire, Guernsey, and Jersey. With reference to the richness of milk: Jersey, Guernsey, Ayrshire. With reference to colour of milk: Guernsey, Jersey, Ayrshire. With reference to size: Ayrshire, Guornse}', Jersey. With reference to early maturity qualities: Jersey, Guernsey, Ayrshire. With reference to ability to rustle for a living: Ayrshire, Jersey, Guernsey. There is very little difference in the amount of butter fat that is produced on the average by these breeds. There is a great deal more difference between the individuals of the breed than between tho breeds. Good cows are found in every breed, and poor cows aro found in every breed. The selection ofthe breed then is not of as much importance as the solection of the individuals within the breed.
