It was not Sir Joseph Ward, or the Mickeiixics, or Sir James Carroll that hs; v. as supporting, but their policy; and he would continue to support it until a better one was offered. (Hear, hear.) The Opposition certainly had no policy. Some people complaiiiod 0} the action of the Prime Minister, iii ".accepting a title, but they should reisirmbcr that the King in conferring this honour .upon him had conferred; ;in honour upon New Zealand, and'if ■Sir Joseph Ward chose to accept, if; ijia.t-WAS his business. (Heat; hear.) They could say what they ',liked, about" Sir "Joseph Ward, bufYid'ongV'cpuld'tlffiy1 that he was a very, able inftiJi j?nel lie was deserving of very great credit for having risen from a telegraph messenger to hold the- 'highest position in the land. (Applause.) Many slanderous statements had been made concerning him, but he (Mr. Craigie) had always found him to be a very (straightforward nnd good-hearted man. (Hear, hear.)" -
