MR MOFFATT AT THE PORT.

Mr W. J. Moffatt, who returned irom the Croixelles last ovoniny. addressed the electors at the Port shortly after landing. Ho said that misrepresentations were being made witJi referqneo to his attitude on the land question. Ho emphatically denied that he had any intontiou of interfering ivith or confiscating anyono's freehold property. All ho stood for was that the remaining Crown lands, together with all other publicly owned land should not bo sold, and there wero 50 candidates, if not more, -contesting seats at this election who wore advocating what he, the speaker, adoeated. Ho dealt briefly with other ■natters, which he promised to deal vith more fully to-night at tho Rink, md asked the audience to bo there.

On the motion of Mr Barrowmau Mr Moffatt received a vote of thanks by acclamation.
