A VESSEL ASHORE.

The harbourmaster at Kingston reported this morning that a three masted vessel was aground half a milo from the shore 30 miles north of Kingston. A heavy sea is running. A quantity of wreekago was washed ashore, but details are not available. A lifeboat from Victor Harbour left early for tho scene of the wreck, a CO miles' journey. It is supposed that the vessel is tho Norwegian barque Mardit, which sailed from Victor Harbour on Friday for England with a cargo of 23,385 bags of wheat, shipped by Cave and Company. *

The identity of the vessel and tho fate of tho crow will not be known till tho return of the lifeboat.
Although a diligent search has been made, no trace of the cutter Matakana, which capsized in the Bay on Thursday morning, has been found. The Marine Department has issued a warning to manners that tho derelict is believed to have drifted northwards iv the direction of D'Urville Island.
