ANTI-MILITARY MEETING.

DISTURBED BY PATRIOTISM

[United Piiess Association.] Wellington, July 28. A number of persons opposed to1 compulsory military training to-night decided to form a Wellington anticonscription league, and officers were appointed. The meeting was at times very rowdy, only about half of those present being in favour of the movement. Supporters of military training were asked to withdraw,- and left thb roo'ni singing the National Anthem, and fcheers wore giv£n for fcompulsory training, the Empire and General Godley.

Tiie object -of the League is to get into touch with other centres and organise a gigantic conference.
