THE UNIONIST PRESS.

LORI) LANSDOWNE'S POLICY.

[PnESB Association^— Copyright.]

London, July 27. Mr Balfour's letter to Lord Newton has brought the Unionist papers into line, the only remaining dissentients being the "Express," 'Tall Mall Gazette," "Globe," and "Sheffield Telegraph." Mr Bonar Law supports Lord Lans-downe's-policy on the ground that if the Irish Home Rule Bill proves of such a nature that the electors might ! oppose it, the Lords would still have poyer to delay the expiry of such laws as tho Continuance Bill and the Army Annual Bill, and thus make the continuance of the Government impossible, and compel an election. Mr Augustine Birrell, Secretary for Ireland, speaking ax, Althorp Park, said that the language hurled at tho Premier on Monday would have disgraced a gambling hell or thieves' kitchen. It was a cold blooded, well organised orgie of stupidity and ruffianism.
