The matter.of through booking of perishable produce on railways and steamers tvas discussed by the Farmers' Union Conference at Wellington. The principle was again affirmed, and the question was referred to a committee to confer with the shipping companies, after which further representations will be mado to the Railway Department.
It is stated that the Representation Commissioners have fixed the quota of electors to be grouped to form a constituency at 15,1G4. The North' Island will only gain one additional member.
At the Police Court yesterday morning,at Duriedin, David Conbrough was fined £12 and costs 7s, three times the value of four whips brought ashore uncustomed from the steamer Orari.— Press Association.
