FLAMES WITH THE FLOOD.

DALGETY AND CO.'S DESTROYED

Blenheim, July 26. Shortly before 5 o'clock last evening a fire was discovered in Dalgety and Oo.'s store in Grove road. The fire--bells were rung, but as the fire boxes of the engines wero under water, the brigade was powerless. A number of men removed the books and some office furniture to a place of, safety, but nothing <>!s*> could be saved ; and, with the exception of the strong room, the whole of the large building was burnt to the ground." Fortunately the wind carried the flames away from the adjacent buildings, or the Royal Hotel would have gone too. The insurances are not yet available.
