FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

The "Jiuli-j early summoned meeting •of the Loyal' Nelson Lodge, No 361-5, .Manchester Unity, OddteLows, was held oil Wednesday evening, at the .lodgo room in Waimea street. Tho Noble Grand (Bro. H. AY. Schwass; presided," and there was a good attendance of members. The District officers P.'G.MT Bro. W. Hfljsen, D.G.M. Bro. W. Thompson, and i'rov. 0.8. Bro. A. iG. Sbrfmpton paid an official visit to the lodge. The auditors' report and ■;the balance sheet for tho past helf year were read and adopted. The total t'unds of the lodgo now amount to £4399 12s lid, made up as follows:
l Sick and'funeral fund £-1835 i9s Bd, I and benevolent fund £33 13s ;sd. Dur- | ing the half-year £40 4s 5d was paid into the district widows and orphans "fund. The sum of £205 Is 8d was disbursed as sick pay. The following ! were elected as delegates to attend i £h& district meeting to be held at Nel- ! son on the Bth August: P.P.G.M. Bro. ! AY. H: Prebble, P.C.s Bios. VV. }7. \ Robertson, A. Cross, the permanent ! secretary, Bro. W. L. Hesseltine, and ■ the treasurer, Bro. J. Armstrong. election of officers resulted as follows : Grand Master, Bro. H. W. Schwass; Noble Grand, Bro. A. J. Pollow; Vice Grand, Bro. F. 0. Chrisiall; elective secretary, Bio. Win. Wilkens. They were duly installed by -She Prov. G.M. The following remain in office: Permanent secretary," Bro. W. L. Hesseltine; treasurer, Bro. J. Armstrong. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the visiting" officers for their attendance.
