Tlie two men. Smith and Jones have been committed for trial for the, murder of Daly in the street at Newcastle on. July 17th.; The evidence showed that.the men had been drinking together. When Ite .was .nrrestetLSinjih told the police that Daly shot himself. At the inquest to-day, however, Smith gave evidence that ho was trying to open a revolver when it went off and shot Daly.
