PERSONAL.
The Wellington papers report that Mr Noel P. Adams, of Nelson, was admitted as a Barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand on Thursday by the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) on the motion of Mr. W. H. D. Bell.
The death is roportod at Wellington of the wife of the Rev. James Patterson, Presbyterian minister, aged 65 years.
Mr. Sidney Charles Owen, M.A., headmaster of tho East Christ-church. (Gloucester street) School, has been appointed by the Canterbury Education Board to the position of Inspector of Schools, at a salary of £425. There were thirteen applicants for the position which was rendered vacant by tho retirement of Mr. T. Hughes.
Late Westland papers . report the deaths of Mr. Chas. Hood, of Dillmans ; Mr. Wm. B. Evans, of Greymouth ; and Mr. Sfl^mon McTaggart, of Kanieri; also that the funeral of the late Mr. John Bevan, a Grand Master of the Masonic Order, took place at Hokitika, and was attended by a largo representative gathering of Masons and West Coasters.
