The Minister of Mines met a conference of owners and omployees, and discussed the Mines Act Amendment Bill recentrwntroduced in tho Assembly. None ofrthe principal Bill was eliminated.

Mr Beeby, Minister of Instruction, is placing £250,000 on tho Estimates for the purpose of modernising tho school system, and making tho service moro attractive to teachers. He will endeavour to increase the State school staff.
