A WASH OUT.

Heavy rain has ftcJen throughout yesterday and to-day, and in consequence ail the rivers have risen. The Xokomaru river is said to be higher than it has boen for many years, wliilo the Pohangina and the Oroua are also in high Hood. The Atanawatu is running bank high, and reports from Ashhurst state .that it is still rising, Ihe road between Ashhurst and Paliuerston North is under water.
A washout occurred on the railway lino near Maharahara, between Dannevirke- and Woodville, and as a consequence the goods train from Palmerston North to Hauke's Bay was h,:J up at the washout on the Woodville side, and the passengers on that train and also on the evening Waipukurau to .Palmerston train, had to cross the washouts, each train returning from whence it came. .
