NAUTICAL CASUALTIES.

WRECK OF THE SANTA ROSA

CHARGES AGAINST THE OFFICERS.

[Press Association—Copyright.]

New York, July 9

In connection with the wreck of the Santa Rosa a passenger states that the captain stood on the bridge armed, and threatened passengers who wished to be sent ashore, and also that it was only when the vessel began to break up and the men went in a body threatening violence that preparations were made to save those aboard.

The report that the captain, brutally treated the passengers is denied. Later reports confirm the news that only four lives were lost. The rescued passengers declare that the officers' mismanagement caused the disaster.
