'At tho Supreme Court John Lestor, charged with false declaration under the Marriage Act by stating that a young woman he married was 21, was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, payment of £5 towards the expenses of the prosecution to be made. Lestor pleaded guilty at Murchison. The grand jury threw out the bills against Alexander Currie, charged with treating an altered birth certificate as genuine, and against Joseph Ferandez, alias Horton, for false declaration under the Marriage Act in giving a wrong name. The Judge indicated that no criminal intent had been disclosed. F. Elliott pleaded guilty to a charge of theft of the Stockton Coal Company's moneys, £61 and £40, and sentence was deferred. Stanley Ross, against whom a true bill was returned, charged with indecent assault, did not appear. Recognisances of £100 found by an Auckland solicitor were ordered to be forfeited.
