Mexico City, May 17. Judge Carbajal, representing tho Federal forces, has announced that a general armistice will bo probable in 24 hours.

Madero, the revolutionary leader, discussing the peace, negotiations, said he was preparing for war. He declared that an attack on Chihuahua was the next step to bo taken by the rebels, Mexico City being the goal. Ho added that all the. towns between Juarez and Mexico ware falling inevitably into his hands. He was hopeful of peace, however, and trusted that their adversaries would recognise without more bloodshep the. futility of opposition.
