Wellington, May 15. The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, 13th May is as follow;;: In the mutton market there arc signs of improvement. Stocks on hand are heavy, with bettor demand, owing to expectations that shipments are likely to decrease. Canterbury sold at 3}d; North Island, 2-Jd. The lamb market is firm, with good c!umand for all lamb, and prospects are rather more encouraging. Canterbury sold at 4sd, and other than Canterbury 4£d. Tho beef market is quiet. '1 he stock of New Zealand beef in hand is light. Npw Zealand hinds sold at -id; fores
2|d. The buttor market is weaker, with a tendency downwards. Choicest N-w Zealand butter is at 106s ; Australian, 100s ; Danish, 112s ; Siberian 100s. The cheese market is a shade weaker New Zealand is soiling at 01s 6d ; Canadian (new) 60s. The hemp market has advanced 5s a ton, viz., good fair, £20 ss; fair grado, £19 15s: fair current Manih, £19 15s; forward shipment, New Zealand good fair, £20 ss; fair grado, £19 15s ; Manila, £19 15s. The output from Manila for tho week is estimated at 28,000 bales.
