MUROHISON V. BRAEBURN.

The first cup match of the season was played at Braeburn on Saturday. Braeburn won tho toss, and elected to play, with the sun at their backs. On tho ball being kicked oil play was carried to half-way, where the ball went into touch. From the line-out Braeburn forwards got the ball at foot, and rushed it over the Murchison line, where Waters scored. Vercoe took the kick but failed. Braeburn 3, Muichison 0. Loose play folded, and while the ball .was in Mnrchison territory, the Braeburn forwards again rushed the ball dangerously .close to the Murchison line, but th© feall being .kicked too hard Morriss forced. Murchison flien forced play into Braeburn territory, and Ingram scored from a loose rush,.McGavin converting. MurcMson 5, Braeburn 3. More loose work followed with occasional snatches' of brilliant back play,; until Murchison were penalised in their own ground for oft-vside' play. Vercoe tried for a tjoaJ, Tmt was unsuccessful. After a lot of hard work near the line Bennett scored for Braeburn, Rogers being unsuccessful with'the kick. Braeburn 6, Murchison 5. More forward work followed, both sides hugging th© lines closely, until Vercoe kicked a fine goal from a penalty. Braeburn 9, Murchison 5. Shortly after this the whistle wont for half-time. On play being'resumed the forwards again took up the ■battle.-"While play wae in"Murchison ground Bennett again succeeded in scoring from a loose rush, Vercoe"failing to convert. ,Braeburn 12, Murchison; 5. tiug'tite bail in a passing rusk, scored, Vercoe converting. Braeburfl 17, Murchison 5. There vyere no further scores after this and th© game ended in tho Murchison -25. The gam© was wo".l contested from start to finish, tho forwards getting most of th« work. The Braeburn forwards were, however, too 'heavy for the Murchison pack and although the latter played a fine plucky game, they were borne down by their weightier opponents. The most prominent men lrt the Braeburn team were Vercoe, Simmonas, ftogers, Waters, and B/9iiiiett. Those, most conspicuous in the MurGhiebn were Goodyer, Ingram t McGavin^MfcNee, and Myles.
