Very distressing circumstances have arisen through the outbreak of typhoid fever at Fairlic. Dr. Cook, his wife, and his sister-in-law contracted the fever. Dr. Cook and the sister-in-law have both died, and Mrs. Cook is unaware of their deaths, being too ill to be told the sad news.
