[United Press Association.]
Dunetiin, March 16
The Hon. T. Mackenzie was entertained at a complimentary social by the Taieri electors at Mosgiel tonight, the gathering being largo and representative. Complimentary speeches were made by a number of gentlemen, and Mr. Mackenzie was presented with an illuminated address in which reference was made to the main points in his public career, .such is his work in London, his exploration work in New Zealand, and his long services in Parliament. Mr. Mackenzie, in reply, touched on these points, and also referred to his position in the political world in future. He said that if the Taieri electorate was not considerably altered he would again be a candidate for that seat, but even if it was cut out altogether he thought he would still bo able to win a seat in the House, an Imperialistic note was struck in most of the speeches.
