NOXIOUS WEEDS
Stephen Smith was charged with failing to clear blackberries iron his land at Tndmor. Defendant pleaded guilty and was lined <J()s with 7s costs. Inspector Cleland, who prosecuted, said the land was good flat land, and would pay for clearing. Defendant had been interviewed and had received notice, but no clearing had. been dono on the 17th February.
Wm Anglesey, of Tadinor, was similarly charged, and pleaded guilty. Ho stated that he could not procure labour, and had Ikyjii offering !Js per day for a- man. The Inspector stated that defendant raised an objection to clearing the road when Jie called on him in October, and no clearing had been dona o.n the 17th Fubruary. A fine of 4()s with 7s costs was also enforced in this case.
His Worship pointed out that tho new amendment to tho Act had not altered the season for clearing, and the proper season for clewing laid down by the Act was before the weeds came into flower.
