Wellington, March 8. Tho following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast:— A distilrbaiiro passed southward of New Plymouth ami Napier during Tuesday ni^ht and parly this morning, with wind veering by wrst to south, the filass tlion rising steadily. .Rain foi!l in most )>arts of th<> South Island, and the wenther was generally changeable. Present indications are for niodorato to strong south-easterly winds in the north, and southerly and wcstei--ly..wiiuls in tlie south. The weather will probably be unsettled on tlie oast Coast, and about Fovoaux Strait, Imt the conditions are improving olsetvherp. The barometer will probably rise slowly everywhere.
