At a meeting of the Nelson Hospital and Charitable Alf 1 Board, held yesterday afternoon, l)r .11. F. A. Washbourn, M.D., formerly of Oollingwood a;:d Nelson, and at present practising at Sunnier, was appointed resident surgeon at Nelson Hospital in place of l)r Mackay, resigned. There were eight applicants for tho position.

The annual meeting of the. Nelson Gleaners' Union was held o.:i Monday evening in the ShcJbourne street schoolroom. The Yon Archdeacon Baker presided, and there was a fair attendance. Nelson is indebted for her first ta.\icab to the enterprise of Mr Paul Mitchell, who has imported a very comm.cdious and easy-running White, steam car. Mr Mitchell having hen licensed has now placed his car at the disposal of the public at joasonalib fai4>s as advertised.
