Mr J. T. Treflci, Honorary Minister, does not believe that tho American Meat Trust will be able to obtain the same footing in Australia as inAinerica, because the Governments in the former country arc hostile, and the Trust will never be able to obtain preferential treatment in the, carriage of goods on the railways against isolated settlers. Even if the Trust became established, it would be a simple matter for tho Government to step in and handle produce from co-operative works. The Trust would have a hopeless .strutruje against the combined power of tltV people and Governments, lie did not think that with the Federal Labour Government in power, and State Parliaments rapidly getting into the hands of thpi Labour Party, Australia would be regarded as a suitable place for the Trust's operations. Nevertheless it was the duty of everybody to back up the efforts to present the Trust playinir ducks and drakes with producers' interests.
