FIRES.

A fire broke cut on Saturday evening, shortly after eight o'clock, in a two-storied house in Bronti street, of which Mr T. It. Stringer is tlu; owner and occupier. The Fire Biigade quickly answerod the alarm, and saved the building, with the exception of two rooms. It .appears that the (ire was occasioned by some children in one of the bedrooms placing a lighted candle too near the window curtains. The house was insured in the South British office for £100, but the furniture was not insured. All the furnishings of the two burnt rooms, valued, it is said, at about- £30, were destroyed . A good deal of the furniture was removed to a place of safety.
