A, F.dmonds, were appointed to wait upon ihi> Hospital Beard that evuuing and request that an immediate start ho )imli> to provide a ward, and that tho Committee he allowed to have representative's, on the building committee. The Committee then adjourned. A deputation, consisting of Mesihmes Fell, Watson, ' Pet--111, and Hisloy, and Mr C-. A. Edmonds, on behalf of tho Childivn's Ward Committee, waited upon the IJospii.nl and Charitable Aid Beard last e\ ening, and reported that \ip_to dab a sum of C 230 had ken collected, which with the Government, subsidy would amount to £500. Thero were still several function,:; to come off, ar.d several amounts yet to come in, ■'.i:d it was anticipated that between £700 ami L'Boo would ba available if (he Govermnent .subsidy was granted. The clej)utation iiskrd that the Board take .l:t-'ps to put the work in hand ■it once, but a request was made that the plans should h:> submitted to a joint com mit too of tho Hoard and tho Children's Ward Committee beToro accepting tenders. After some discussion it was lesolvcd on the motion of -Mrs Fell, seconded by Mr Macmahon, to accept the amount collected, and when it is received, to place it to the Hoard's general funds. An amendment moved by .Mr Franklyn, seconded by Mi1 Field, pro forma, that the amount 1)3 placed to a special account was defeated. An assurance was given that the amount would be expanded in acconlsiK'o with the wishes of the I Children's Ward Committee.
