LASCAR DESERTERS.

(Received Feb 8, 0.20 a.m.) Melbourne, Feb 7. Twentj'-eight la-sears deserted from the strainer Aprima owing to the captain placing their countrymen under restraint for insubordination. The dcscirters marched through the streets in. a body, but the. police intercepted them at Newport and removed them to the lock-up. Tho captain, would be responsible for lines totalling £2800 if the deserters escaped.
