CRICKET.
The senior cricket championship was advanced another stage on Saturday, when Motueka defeated Riwaka by ten wickote. Scores: Motueka, 178 and 7 for no wickets. Griffon 39, L. Canton 31, Hart 38, Boundy 17, E. Duncon 15 were the principal scores. Bowling analysis: Holyoako 6 for 54, 11. Fowler 4 for 29. Riwaka, 111 and 72, Holyoake 18 and 30, K. Fowler 19 and 10, 11. Fowler 28 and 4, J. Holyoake 16 and (5 (including a beautiful sixer). Bowling: Batchelor 0 for 16 ami 3 for 4, E. Duncan 6 for 21 and 2 for 17 s Hart 2 fw 27 and 4 for 33. FRIENDLY SOCIETIES SPORTS. The Druids and Foresters havo joined tho several Oddfellows Lodges this year, and it has been decided to hold sports on Easter Monday: A ball will be held in the Institute on Easter Monday evening, and a spcial committee has been scifc up to make this function a success. THE RASPBERRY CROP. Tho dry weather has adversely affected the crop, and although the early indications pointed to a record quantity boiii)f harvested, the results have boon quite disappointing-. There has boon, a blight on the leaf similar in appearance, to the potato blight, nnd even whcT'c the gardens look hoaltliy the berries have not grown to any size. . . TENNIS. The Central Tennis Club opened their new asphalt courts on Wednesday last, and a large crowd assembled to do honour to the occasion. Various guessing competitions were held, and n concert and dance finished the day's proceedings. The. committee cleared over £20 for the day, and this must be considered very satisfactory. The courts arc laid down in first-class style, «nd when they are top-dressed they will be a groat attraction to "knights of tho racket."
