The above race was rowed at the Port on Saturday evening under ideal weather - conditions, the; water' being perfect. McCabe's and Kerr's^crewß mot to fight out the final issue". McOabe's crew was., the- iiirst-to .settle -downi^'and established atlead.of . thi-ce-quartersrsf ;a length., This was gradually increased on 'the way, \- down to three lengths, which was the 'distance ■separating the boats when ,-i the^guii wqs fired denoting the finish; . Kerr' s crew, rowed a- very .plucky race, 'but was never able to get up. with the loading boat.
