In last Saturday's match Pelorus v Nelson the local forwards gave i\ fine exhibition, both in the scrunymci in the .loose, and repeatedly ran through their opponents. Doyle was at his best, and did nol play his usual waiting game, but grafted hard in the scrum, and wasalways prominent in the rushes. Brown, McKay, and Clark were always on the ball; and the hookers, Bunker and Watson, repeatedly beat their opponents for the ball. Int. former, with McKay, also did goo u work on the line out. Best was alsc prominent at times in. the loose. Kinzett, at half, got the ball out tc his backs well, .and tackled in good F. Hunter, at five-eighths, made hn. first appearance in a representative match, and appeared somewhat nervous. He • was uncertain in taking the ball, but otherwise performed well. Gilbert, at inner five-eighths, beat his opponents time and again in cutting in, and generally gave a good exhibition. - Harley, at centre tlireequarter, ha'J very little to do, but, needless to say : what came his way was well done. Had he been given more work by thr five-eighths 'the tally put" up; by Nelson would probably have been increased. ' . Chapman. and Mercer, wing three : quarters, performed satisfactorily, anci Saundters at full-back was safe.
