FALSE PRETENCES.

Christehurch, August 17. At the .Magistrate's Court to-day, Percy Pefrin pldaded guilty to a charge of baying obtained board and lodging in August last year by falsely representing that he was a jockey engaged to rido the horse Wairaka in the Grand National Steeplechase. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of having obtained £12 by a similar pretence and was committed for sentence on both charges.
