The exhibits burned at Brussels include a collection of antique furniture and ornaments from many private mansions in England, valued at £50,----000; old china from South Kensington valued at £10,000; and some good new English pictures, including works b.v Sir William Orchardson, R.A., Alfred East R.A., and J. J. Shannon R.A. Amongst the articles stolen is an aigrette worth £800. Several thieve? were arrested laden with booty. Tho buildings destroyed were insured for £92,000. Only 16 pieces of pottery were saved from the British section. Some goldsmiths' work and uncut diamonds from the De Beers' nunc are buried in tho debris of the Belgian section.
