I [United Pbess Association..] ! AucWantf, May 30. Further interesting developments "n connection with the Auckland East bye election took place to-day. At a meeting of the Opposition supporters this afternoon, at which Mr Massoy and Mr Martin (the party's organiser) were present, it was decided to approach Mr Joseph dark, and ask him to stand for the- seat as the official Opposition candidate. Mr Clark, who was formerly Pastor of the Baptist Tabernacle, will make a definite announcement to-morrow. '
At a meeting of the Labour party to-night, Mr G. Motrisht. of Auckland, was selected as the- Labour caudidate. .■: .
