The Dean of Newcastle, in an address at tho Cathedral on Socialism, declared, "lam sorry to say the Church has not done her duty to the bodies as well as tlie souls of those to whom she should minister. If the Church is going to stand on one side, wrapped in antique respectability, •livng in the past, forgetful of the present, profoundly in different to the future, without doubt sbe ivill coaso ' to be 'a power and in time become nonexistent."
