Wilcott, secretary of tho China Association, in a letter to "The Times" lvliich "The Times", describes as important tuid convincing, shows that the new Japanese tariff will be a serious blow to British trade. The rates on many articles are doubled and several trebled, and the large majority of those articles chiefly imported from Britain boar increased rates, which, when enforced, will coninel many British firms trading with Japaji to abandon business there. Mr Wilcox quotci Count Komura's speech on 31st January, stating that England being a perfectly freotrade country, and no tncans of purchasing tariif concessions from other nations.
