MR PETTIT AT THE PORT.

Mr Thomas Pettit, a candidate for the Mayoralty, addressed a fairiy well attended meeting at the Port, last night, Captain McNab presiding. Mr Pettit dealt with municipal questions on the lines of his previous addresses, and at the close a unanimous . vote of thanks was accorded to both candidate and the chairman.

At Mr Pettit's meeting at Hampden , street on Wednesday evening the figures quoted by the speaker with reference to the overdraft were for one year, not ten, as seems to have been understood, and the rate necessary to be levied on the increase of the total overdraft for the one year would be 10* d, not 16* d.

A meeting of Mr Pettit's executive was held last night, when encouraging reports were handed in and good work was done on the roll. .

Mr Pettit will address a meeting in the Wood Sunday school this evening.
