[United Pbess Association.]
Talhape, April 20. A number of settlers were^before the S.M. Courtyto-day. ' In two informations for failing to obey notices under sections 9 and 10 of the Noxious Weeds Act, exception was taken that thd notice under section 10 had not complied with the schedule. The Magistrate upheld the contention on the ground that the time for commencing the woykiof^ cutting Californian thistle was necessary to be stated, but not tha. completion. The inspector intimated that it- was probable that the Department 'would appeal against the ruling. On the charges under section 9 all the defendants were fined 10s and costs. ■.■•■"■
